JONES TOPS READINGTON FIELD, LUNDGREN WINS KINGWOOD 36k TIME TRIAL, 3RD AT SANDY HOOK TIME TRIAL
At the Readington Time Trial, Julie Jones of the Montclair Bikery placed 1st place in the Women's Eddy category!!! Julie is a first-year racer, trained hard with Elite Endurance over the winter, and it's great news seeing her come out of the gate in early 2010 and get her first win of her career! Go, Julie!
Kenneth Lundgren of the Northeastern Hardware Cycling Team won the Kingwood 36k Time Trial out in Frenchtown… The course is a beautiful out and back that runs along the Delaware River. Lundgren ran a 44:58 at 29.0 mph for 1st place. Second place went to Brian Hopkins of Ag3R, who ran a 47:05.
Before he flatted on the return leg, Roy Vaccaro of Jimenez Velo Sport was in 4th place. Lundgren and Vaccaro are both planning to peak for the New Jersey State Time Trial Championships.
At the Sandy Hook TT, Lundgren placed 3rd in the men's Pro/1/2/3. In the women's Eddy class, Julie Jones of the Montclair Bikery placed 3rd in her first TT! Go Julie!!!
In the stacked men's Cat-4 field, Roy Vaccaro placed a very respectable 6th and Steve Tinston of Westwood Velo placed 7th in the 50+ -- this AFTER missing his start time by 50 seconds!!! Had he not missed, the victory certainly could've been his...
Also at Readington, Lundgren missed overall victory by less than 1 SECOND, taking second overall to David Freifelder of Trade Manage Racing (he also won Sandy Hook). Tinston placed 3rd in the 50+ and Vaccaro had a very fast ride to take 4th in the huge Cat-4 field...
Next up in the NJ TT Cup Series is the Cape May Time Trial, a 7-mile out-and-back flat event...
