CARR WINS THE OVERALL AT GIRO DEL CIELO, LESNAK WINS OPENING TT!

David Carr of Team Setanta took 2nd in the Giro del Cielo TT, behind the winner Elite Endurance’s own Benjamin Lesnak. Ben’s winning time of 15:02 was 22 seconds faster than David’s time, and they put massive time into the rest of the field… David noted this year, he was faster than last year…
Then in the afternoon it was time for the Criterium. David noted that he had to fight hard for position, missing out on times to eat and hydrate… Lesnak drilled the last few laps, with David in tow, but the duo could not hold off the charging field… There was a crash, but David did well to hold on, good for 9th!
Another rider passed both David and Ben in GC, taking points in the Criterium prime and slotting into the top position...
However, in the final day’s Road Race, David came through big… Not a true sprinter, David tried a few times to force a break, but he was chased down every time. Doing more TTs this year, his pure Vo2 Max power is lower than year’s past, and secondly the man leading the race had six teammates chasing! David sat in and waited for the finale… In the leadout, he jumped early, remembering getting caught at Unionvale, and stayed low and aero and gritted his teeth to the line, crossing the line first! He won the Road Race AND the overall GC!!!Congrats, Dave, on a HUGE win!!!
